Christmas Camp - New Year's Eve Eve and New Year's Eve Day

The rest of the family was set to arrive on New Year's Eve, so we spent the 30th relaxing.  James went duck hunting (no ducks!  boo!) and Robert and I stayed in the cabin most of the day due to rain.  We also went into town for a while to visit with family while James hunted again that evening.  We had a cozy dinner by the fireplace that night and turned in early, listening to the rain on the tin roof!

On New Year's Eve, James went hunting with my uncle and cousins.  Cousin Tal killed his first duck, but sadly I don't have a picture of that!  I heard he was mighty proud... in fact, you can read about it (and see a picture of Tal and his duck) here!  The rain finally stopped, so James and I decided to take Robert on a 4-wheeler ride around the farm.  Many of you may not know that Robert already has a long history with 4wheelers!  When he was an infant, he had colic and spent about 4 hours a night crying and miserable.  When he was 2 months old, James decided to take him on a four-wheeler ride to "distract him."  As soon as James started off (VERY SLOWLY in the front yard with Momma about to pass out from fear that something would happen....), Robert quit crying.  Four-wheeler rides became a 6 p.m. ritual at our house, and James took Robert on a trip around the farm in Finger almost every night!

Anyway, Robert is definitely no stranger to four-wheelers and loved the opportunity to ride again, as we don't get to do that much in since moving to Nashville.  So, he and James hopped on one four-wheeler, and I hopped on another with my camera in hand......

We drove through lots of mud and deep puddles, which Robert thought was terrific!  By the end of the ride, though, Robert was exhausted and fell asleep before we could get back to the cabin!
