A Call to Armes: A Day that will live in infamy.... to the Armes Crew, at least!

This past Sunday was truly THE highlight of James' ministry so far. Eighteen members of our beloved Lester's Chapel United Methodist Church piled into a van and drove 3 hours from Jackson, Tennessee to Kentucky to visit our churches here. The two churches were kind enough to worship together so that the Lester's Chapel folks would have an opportunity to meet them.... We had a wonderful worship service in which all three churches took some special part. We kicked off a special project for all three churches to tackle together that day. The project is called "Living a Better Story." We each received envelopes of money -- from $1 to $20 -- and were challenged to find a way to multiply the money and use it for God. The catch is that the money can not be returned to the churches but must be used in some outside charity or cause. The Armes crew received $3 collectively, and we think we have come up with a pretty good idea which we plan to try to get off the ground this weekend. More on that later!

Three bodies of Christ coming together to worship was a very special experience for us! After church, the two Kentucky churches treated the Lester's Chapel crew to a fantastic Thanksgiving dinner, and then we took the Lester's Chapel folks to view the parsonage and to view the other church. We were beyond touched that this wonderful group of people, whose support for us has been unbelievable, gave up their entire Sunday just to come and show their love and support for the Armes family. The word "amazing" doesn't do the experience justice -- It will be a day we as a family will never forget.
