We decided to sign Robert up for spring soccer this year. He has really enjoyed it so far. When he does well, he loves to yell to us on the sidelines, saying things like, "Did you see that, Dad? I kicked it!!!" He plays in the youngest division (4 year olds), and much of the game is spent reminding the kids not to touch the ball with their hands. It really is entertaining to watch, and we are all enjoying it.
The league does not do the typical Saturday morning games that you usually hear about. Rather, games are scheduled for weekday evenings. Probably not the best planning, as spring weather (and unseasonably cold temperatures) have cancelled most of the games so far. We have played only 2 of 8 games. All of the games have been rescheduled for the coming three weeks, so (weather permitting) we will be on the soccer 4 nights a week for the next 3-4 weeks!
Here are some pictures from the first game, which was held the second week of March. Robert is # 5 (with the black hat).
Warming up...
Getting ready to play (Robert's team has about 6 players - we are always highly outnumbered!).
Robert's biggest fans!
My favorite goalie!
