Christmas Eve

We spent Christmas at my parents' house this year.  Christmas Eve was one for the books!  We started out by going to First Methodist's come-and-go communion, a tradition in our family.  After communion, we came home and Mom started cooking our traditional and much-anticipated meal of quail, biscuits, cheese grits, and more.  While Mom cooked, we hung out....

Dinner was about half finished when the POWER WENT OUT!  We made the best of it, lit come candles, and kept busy while we waited for it to come back on.......

we waited.....

And waited.....

And waited.....

Finally, we called some neighbors who did have power and asked to borrow their oven to cook our biscuits.  Dad headed over to the neighbor's house while Mom kept cooking on her gas stove.... Here she is looking in the fridge by candlelight!

After a while, the power came back on.....

The power was on, but no Dad/Bob/Boo.  We waited some more..... and still no Boo.  Grano started to get a leeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetle bit peeved.....

Everyone who knows my dad knows he loves to talk --- and we knew he was doing more visiting than biscuit cooking!  So we finally sent James to get him!

After a few minutes, James brought him home!

We finally got dinner on the table and sat down to eat.  Just as we all held hands in preparation for saying the blessing, we heard a loud crashing sound coming from the living room.  We walked into the living room to find part of the plaster from the ceiling had fallen in!!!

We left the plaster until after dinner and FINALLY ate a delicious meal!

Then cleaned up some plaster so Santa would have a clean place to leave his gifts!!
