Carolyn made it through surgery. They removed the bottom and middle lobes of the lung. The doctor felt like it had not spread to the upper lobe. They took some samples of tissue and lymph nodes around the lungs, and the pathology reports on those will not be available until Monday. She was already coming off of the ventilator and waking up when the doctor came out to update James. Basically, this was the best we could have hoped for today, given the circumstances.
She will be in ICU for several days and will probably be on oxygen for a while (possibly indefinitely).
Thank you for your continued prayers -- we have certainly felt them!
“But it is when a crisis arises that we instantly reveal upon whom we rely. If we have been learning to worship God and to place our trust in Him, the crisis will reveal that we can go to the point of breaking, yet without breaking our confidence in Him.” -Oswald Chambers
