Friday was one LOOOOOONG day for the Armes crew. James had surgery to repair a hole in his eardrum and to remove a benign cyst that was wreaking havoc in his middle ear. We left home at 8:00 a.m. and did not make it back until about 11:30 that night. Everything took a little longer than planned, making it a long day. Thankfully, though, the surgery was a success, and once James has recovered, he should regain a big chunk of the hearing that he has lost. They actually had to peel the ear back (ewwwww!) and insert a prosthesis to replace some of the bone that had to be removed (double ewwwww!), so James is definitely having discomfort (along with some dizziness) but is glad to be on the road to recovery.
Shocker of all shockers - he didn't want me to take any pictures of him during this process.... But he did let me take one quick shot....The doctor came in and made a mark on the ear and initialed James' neck - making sure that they operated on the correct side!
Jenny was sweet enough to pick up Robert and take him for a swim before bringing him to me late Friday evening. We passed the time by watching movies.....
When it was finally our turn to go back and see James in recovery, everyone else had gone for the day. We literally were the last ones there -- which meant Robert got some extra special treatment from the nurses. They were bringing him juice and popsicles and letting him sit at the nurse's station.
We spent Memorial Day weekend sticking close to home with James healing and Robert playing in his swimming pool in the backyard.
By the way, it took James approximately one hour after waking up on Saturday to announce that he was bored. He is certainly ready to resume normal life again and enjoy an upcoming break from school!
Here's to good health and a good summer!!

So glad that is behind you, both. Please put us on your vacation schedule if you can get away, Love, Meemow
