Rev. Andrew Thompson, a former Lambuth chaplain and husband of one of my sister's dearest friends, authors an amazingly insightful blog called Gen-X Rising.
Today's article, found here, quickly summarizes new statistics out from the General Council on Finance & Administration which give an idea of the current United Methodist total membership numbers. Worldwide, the church has grown, but in America, the declining trend continues. Andrew does a great job of briefly exploring both sides of the argument about whether numbers are important. An interesting read for me, as we are still at the starting point of James' ministry in the Methodist church.
Andrew has also authored a book: Generation Rising: A Future with Hope for the United Methodist Church. It's coming out in April and is definitely on my must-read list. You can read about it here.
